Grocery Manager

The Grocery Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the grocery department to ensure exceptional customer service, product availability, food safety, and profitability. This role leads and develops a team, manages inventory, controls expenses, and maintains an organized, clean, and well-stocked department that meets company standards.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the day-to-day operations of the grocery department.
Ensure shelves are fully stocked, properly rotated, and attractively merchandised.
Monitor inventory levels and place orders to maintain optimal stock while minimizing waste.
Supervise receiving, stocking, pricing, and merchandising activities.
Lead, train, coach, and evaluate department associates.
Prepare employee schedules and manage labor costs effectively.
Deliver outstanding customer service by resolving customer questions and concerns promptly.
Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
Monitor product quality, freshness, and expiration dates.
Analyze sales reports and implement strategies to increase sales and profitability.
Manage shrink through proper inventory control, merchandising, and loss prevention practices.
Coordinate promotional displays and seasonal merchandising.
Maintain department equipment and report maintenance needs.
Ensure compliance with company policies and safety procedures.

Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
3–5 years of grocery retail experience, including at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or management role.
Strong leadership and team-building skills.
Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
Knowledge of grocery merchandising, inventory management, and food safety standards.
Ability to analyze sales and financial reports.
Proficient with point-of-sale and inventory management systems.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
